All you need for wonderful Curtains...

We offer 3 different qualities of work:

    Hand Lined
The lining is hand locked on the seams, hand hemmed and hand slip-stitched sides. This produces a flexible curtain, in that the face fabric and the lining are not held rigidly as in a machine-lined curtain.
All headings except hand pencil pleats are offered.

    Interlined
Interlining is locked to the face fabric and the lining is then locked to the interlining to bond the three layers together. Interlining produces a much softer look, rounded plump folds, not creases. It's also a wonderful insulation and together with the lining protects the face fabric from light damage. All headings except hand pencil pleats.

    Superior Interlined
Constructed in a similar way to standard interlined but we put in more than twice as much locking between the layers. We also offer the beautiful hand made pencil heading, only seen from the best curtain makers!
Arched-top curtains, whether pencil headed or French headed are Stunning.

When asking for a quote, please do ask for all variations!! The more informed you are of the choices, the better. The difference between a lined curtain & an interlined one may only be £100 but the difference in warmth, drape & quality is huge. ( no, we can't put it in later!)

If we are banging the drum for interlined curtains it is because we know how much better a product they are and want our customers to be as informed as possible.

Blackout lining  There are two main kinds that we use, 3-pass laminate lining which comes in standard ivory or white - not wonderful drape ( but it is getting better!) & can overpower a thinner fabric.  The alternative is one of the new synthetic weaves, brand name Venus, which has much better drape and is available in a good colour range.  With its self-healing properties, it makes an really good lining for blinds and also has excellent thermal value and the only drawback we have found is that you can't press the seams flat.

    Trimmings
Trimmings are either purchased separately or made from a contrast fabric.Fan edge, or braid can be sewn down the leading edges for a gentle accent, or use two rows, set several inches apart for a much bolder effect. A band of contrast fabric can be added, always use a fabric full length rather than join two widths, as the seam will be at eye height and spoil the effect completely! The bottom of the curtain can be trimmed in the same way.Tassel and cut fringes look nice on the leading edges of curtains where the heading is fixed together in the centre and dressed back on ombras or Italian strung.

    Buttons
These can be made in self or contrast fabric in a variety of sizes. There are also beaded ones that co-ordinate with a range of beaded fringes that can be purchased separately.
