Roman Blinds...
Roman blinds provide a very smart solution to dressing windows in a modern context. They suit almost all window styles whether period of contemporary. They use a minimum of fabric ( often the expensive bit!) and although they are time-consuming to make, the result is most effective. When the blind is down, the fabric is flat, so choose your fabric with this in mind, plain fabric can look very plain and we suggest you consider adding a shape to the bottom or binding the edges with a contrast colour.
Fixing can be inside or outside the recess. If you are able to fix outside the recess, allow for the blind to be fitted 6”/15cm above the opening and a minimum of 2”/5cm each side. See how to measure.
Our blinds are supplied complete with a fabric covered batten, which is then drilled for fixing direct to the wall, although small brackets can be used if you prefer. The blind is corded through eyes and held on a brass cleat hook. This method allows for the blind to fit close to the wall.
We can supply cassettes with sidewind chain systems for a small extra cost.
Interlining is standard, but not compulsory. We fix the rods between the lining and the interlining so that there are no sewn pockets and no machine lines on the face of the fabric, then hand sew the rings in place, this makes a softer looking blind.
Current fashion is for rod spacing of 30cm or more, if you have a specific requirement, just tell us.
Max. width is 100”/255cm & max. drop is 120”.
We advise that very big blinds will be extremely heavy to pull up!
Voile & sheer blinds are made with pockets. Here we machine a tuck into the voile & thread the rod into it. The sides of these blinds are double folded and double stitched to reduce puckering. Size is limited to the width of the voile less turnings, any length.
